Religious symbolism

I've looked at this image above the lintel of a church in Invers many, many times, wondering what it might represent.
Can any one help me out?
I suspect the language is Elvish or High Rowling.

It's the "burning bush" of the Exodus, and is a Presbyterian emblem. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Burning_bush#Symbolic_uses_of_the_burning_bush

So it means take off your shoes when you walk in the door?

Thanks Daveosaurus. I'll follow the link and learn some more about that. Curious emblem (to an agnostic)to have emblazoned above a church door.

Its latin for 'push'

it translates as "however it was not consumed" (high school latin useful on occasion)
