Day two at the museum and another round of guiding 12 year-olds through the Mo Tatou galleries, filled as they are with marvelous artifacts na Kai Tahu whanui: kahu kiwi - kiwi feather cloaks, he rama, torches made from bark and titi fat, tauihu, waka prow carved from matai, recently discovered in a sand dune on Stewart Island, a mokihi - 'reed vessel' made from raupo bound into the form of a waka - lots and lots of fascinating taonga for the students to study. The best part though, is the question time near the end where the kids get to try to trip up their guide with searching questions! So far, so good. I was able to dodge the tricky ones and fob off the awkward.
Today's weather though, is fabulous and not what you want to see when you are obliged to be under the big pyramid. The Queen's Park though, is just outside the door ...
