Spindleberry

I'm growing this elegant tree. Researching it, I found;
" The flowers are pollinated by St Mark's Fly."
St Mark's fly!
What's that? Do we have it here?
More *research underway.


*Seems we don't have it here. Also found;
"The wood of E. europus was used to make ox-goads".
I've several oxen in need of goading, so I'll make a spindle from my spindleberry.
"Food plant for the Holly Blue butterfly".
Another new insect to investigate.
