Baby orangutan head found in PKE import

Well, no, it was a goat's leg, reportedly, but whichever it was, the discovery of an animal part in animal feed is deeply worrying - flesh carries Foot and Mouth disease and that's a malady that terrifies everyone connected to the animal industry in New Zealand. Did the grandiose Ministry for Primary Industries quickly and decisively recall and contain the palm kernel expeller in which this maggoty (yes, it was maggot-ridden!) limb was found? No. They did nothing at all, bar 'testing' the bony thing.
This is very, very poor and very serious, in my view.
I'm keen to get down to the SouthPort warehouses where Southland's imports of PKE are stored before distribution, and have a look for myself.
