Athol ditch

Some clot parked his car in a shallow ditch on a quiet back-road in Athol. He had to be towed out by the very kindly fly-tying 'Stu', who fortunately owned a grunty SUV. You'd wonder how anyone could do that. The road is wide, the skies clear. It beggars belief really.

Ha ha, are you back home now?

We're hunkered down beside a blazing fire while outside the wind is howling and the hail lashing. How's the weather in Dun-Edin?

Wintery...

Nah it's easy enough to do. Drive fast enough on a gravel road, lose concentration, go slightly off line and hey presto!
Saw it happen from a passengers seat once. Hilarious! Because the driver was in the middle of telling us what a brilliant driver he was. Anyway,we got back on the road courtesy of a tow from a school bus. Very embarrassing.

Yes...but I was travelling at about 3kph, executing the notoriously perilous 3-point turn. That muddy ditch seemed shallow but proved to be both substantial and slippery :-)

Aha. That's easy enough to do too and I have to confess I've done something similar. Though in my case I blamed some snow. Even at 3kph the brakes don't do much. You can extract yourself with a bit of time, the wheel jack and some wood or stones under the wheels.
On a related subject, don't you think it's a little hypocritical to want livestock out of watercourses when you can't keep your car out of them? I can see a headline.....

The road owners should have that puddle fenced off. Protect our waterways!

Put your foot in it again, Rg??

Just to add to you sins, aren't 3 point turns on the open road illegal?

Right-front wheel, Sparky!

Nothing 'open' about that road, wildcrafty, it was blocked!
In any case, it was one-point, and no turn was executed.
