Minister for Golf

Prime Minister John Key has taken a bold step to solve New Zealand's economic and social woes, by funneling money into a key area of concern...on Planet Key, a golf tournament.

Golf will be the winner on the day, on that planeton which  our Prime Minister lives, to the tune of  $650, 000.

Inspirational.

I've nothing against the game, fred. In fact, I enjoy an occasional round, being not too badly coordinated and a fluid swinger to boot :-), my concerns about pesticide and herbicide use on courses is of no consequence really, and the elitism aspect is a perception thing. In this instance, I can't see the need for such well heeled practitioners of the game needing to ask for public money to further their project. I feel the same about the big yachts (despite my owning two :-) and the huge pots of money that went from the Government (taxpayer) into their activities. Why? Influence from wealthy lobbyists on wealthy politicians is my take. That doesn't impress me at all.
