Here's a new one that sits comfortably up there with National's other plainly stupid and punitive benefit 'reforms' - cut benefits in half if your 3 year-olds aren't in childcare!
There's nothing this Government likes more, it seems, than opportunities to dictate over the poorer members of society. Bennett has already announced, gleefully it has to be said, similar punitive actions aimed at forcing those on benefits to do as the Government demands, and today's is more of the same - authoritarian 'solutions' to problems that deserve more intelligent approaches. I wonder if Bennett considers what the effect of her draconian action might be, on a parent who for any of a number of reasons, doesn't want her or his child to be in early childhood education and at the same time, can't live on half a benefit?
I doubt she has. She seems unable to imagine such a thing, so removed has she become from reality.
