Mind the bees, please.

I've been promoting the planting of bee-friendly flowering plants in home gardens, at schools and around towns and cities in any space available. I include discussion on the issue in my public talks to garden groups and service groups, I talk with classes of school children about the kinds of plants that are loved by bees and other pollinators and I write about planting for the bees in the NZGardener.
It's really important.
Now, the beekeepers are doing it, and I'm fully in support of their initiative.

"Beekeeping clubs around New Zealand will be lobbying their local mayors and councils to use bee-friendly spraying policies in public gardens and along roadsides and waterways. They will also be asked to plant bee-friendly trees and flowers.

And New Zealanders are being asked to help bees in their gardens at home by using bee friendly sprays and to plant flowers and trees that will provide food for bees."
