Parata gets slammed!

"Tena Koe Minister Hekia Parata
I pen this Open Email to you, with the purpose of saying respectfully that your arguments re: the proposed changes to class numbers, staffing ratios are so false, that you must be aware that they have little to do with doing what is right for children. Rather they have more to do with politicians using glib phrases to try and justify the further ruination of an education system, that was once the best in the world. Minister it is not you and your colleagues, nor is it me and my colleagues who will suffer from your changes. It is the children of this nation!"

Thus begins the open-email letter to Education Minister Hekia Parata from her old school mate and now

Principal Pat Newman T.T.C. Dip Ed(Waikato) B.Ed(Massey) Dip.Tchg, ANZPF.

There's plenty more reading in the email and I invite you to go to The Standard to read the remainder. You too, Parata, if you're reading :-)

So, you suggest we read the rantings of Liarbours Whangarei candidate who has mislead the public about education issues previously? Nothing much partisan there?

Parata's not partisan? Read them both, then decide, paranormal. parata worries me, I have to say. She's got that 'born again' fervour and an unseemly hunger for economic development. Perfect Tory really. My hope is, her whanaunga will give her a slapping that says, 'kia oho e hine!'

Yes but you expect the rest of us to believe anything that Newman says, especially with his track record? I don't think so.

Have you read his email, paranormal? What statement don't you accept?
I don't run with your 'track record' claim. Front up to what is being said, here and now. Keeping Stock uses the same, lame, "I don't listen to him because he's done such and such.." Lame excuse for willful ignorance.

You want evidence about previous lies - well here you go. He embarrassed his party with this one when moroney didn't fact check it:

Para - that's not evidence. That's a claim by Anne Tolley. Are you kidding me?
Regardless, the letter, para, what do you make of what the letter says? Too frightened to address that question? Only interested in attacking the writer of the letter? Whats that called now...shooting the messenger, is that it?

RG - are you really suggesting what Newman said was true and Tolley was false? Really? Your KDS and National bad syndrome are in overdrive. Time for some perspective.

I am suggesting that what Newman said is true, para, yes. Can you cite something from the Open Email that you regard as untrue?

Of Anne Tolley, I've said that you quoted something she said, not 'evidence about previous lies'. That's not evidence that proves Newman lied, at all. Pretty flimsy evidence if that's all you rely on - a newspaper report about what a minister said!

You are really playing the partisan piece here RG. It's pretty black and white:

“A principal, who is a Labour candidate, stated this morning on Radio NZ that he has a Ministry achievement practitioner working in his school,” says Mrs Tolley.

“This is not true.

“The report then went on to claim that a former dental nurse, ex-policeman and a principal who had been suspended were among the practitioners.

“Again, all of these claims are completely false, and the Ministry has made an official complaint to Radio NZ.

Tolley said 'it's not true'. You accept that at face value.
She also said, 'all of these claims are completely false'. Again you accept her statement at face value. The Ministry may have made an official complaint to Radio nZ, para, but was it upheld? You've given nothing but Tolley's word on these issues. It may be that she is coirrect, but you've offered no evidence at all. None. You said this was ecvidence. It's heresay.

Earlier in the release Tolley was quoting ministry figures regarding who was appointed. The consequences of Tolley not telling the truth are very high. Yes in this instance Tolley is far more believable. The fact that Liabour had to withdraw the claims seems to support Tolley's view.
