Shadders wades in

And so do I.

Feds president showed courage

I was in the room when Federated Farmers members booed their president and then walked out when he said he supported Environment Southland's new dairy rule.
They were wrong to do that, in my opinion.
Mr Gardyne began his presentation by saying he was surprised that dairy farmers were at the meeting to oppose a new policy that would "secure their future, and improve the community perception of their industry."
I don't think jeering and leaving the room before Mr Gardyne had a chance to have his say was a good way to give the federation the "moral authority" it had been hoping to gain from the meeting.
I found his presentation to be balanced and reasonable and admired his courage.

This was Shadbolts pathetic attempt to gain brownie points for election of the mayoralty of what hes sees will be in the future of a new one Southland council. What he said was B stupid he obviously has no idea what hes talking about etc...

Invercargill voters may be stupid to elect him but I don't think and hope the wider Southland voters are so stupid. They will soon work this out if he does get elected Mayor of a one Southland council, For he would be as useless in this position as he is as Mayor of the lCC.

He's too old to drive that vehicle, pauline. In any case, town councils and regional councils are very different beasts. They need to be separate.

The idea may be stupid, but at least Shadbolt has the right approach. He wants to work with farmers rather than against them. That's the best approach to get them to do something... assuming that's what you want to happen.
