"This is democracy, people have avenues to make protests, but when you step over the line and deliberately vandalise and destroy property, disrupt people's lifetime of work, I don't think that's a fair go."
Someone as yet unknown, has stepped over the mark, Scion's mark that is, and their fences, and lopped-off at the stump, years of genetically-engineered growth at the forestry research institute at Rotorua, incuring the wrath of Scion chief executive Dr Warren Parker who makes it clear that the tree-fellers are rotters.
There are avenues for people to have their say, he says, and these anti-ge people have had their chance.
Seems they weren't satisfied by that process and decided to take the matter, and some saws, into their own hands. This, it could be said, is what happens.
Scion plan to replant. We've no idea what the tree-fellers plan. We'll have to wait some years and see.
