From the editor

Readers of Straight Furrow this week are getting it between the eyes over the environment and it's parlous state. Even the paper's editor, Jeff Smith lets rip over the state of the river he ordinarily fishes in and enjoys.
"A photo I accessed today showing the polluted state of the river with low flow, and the filthy muck on the rocks just about brings me to tears."
Jeff knows where to sheet the blame too.
"There is no doubt farming practices of the past, and other issues, have contributed to this and something must be done before we have no decent rivers left."
I'm delighted Jeff has been subject to this experience and that he's in a position to advertise his feelings about it. The more often those who cause a problem have it help up for their inspection, the greater the chance they'll do something about repairing it, I reckon.
