Funny sort of love tho', given if it's not reciprocated ya burn in Hell!
On a serious note, regards to discussion on Frogblog Shunda re: domestice violence, when I said my sister was involved with Women's Refuge I meant she's worked there for some years. If there's anything at all we could do to help your sister-in-law, we'd be happy to, altho' from what you say you've probably already tried everything.
Suz, it is an awful situation, but unfortunately she turned on my wife and her husband more or less threatened to kill me.
We have our own responsibility toward our kids and we have had to respect their wishes and will have no further interaction with them.
It is a complex situation involving religious dogma, and some fairly entrenched psychological issues as well (in my opinion).
I actually tried to help this guy over several years but he simply used me as a pressure relief valve for his guilty conscience. I was actually enabling the abuse of his wife by trying to help him! As soon as I started trying to get him to take responsibility for his actions (and life) he turned on me and added me to his "hate their guts" list which is now very long.
Some people just pursue ugliness, I don't know why but they do.
It's hard to accept due to the fact that there are kids involved, but there really is nothing we can do.
She also has (religious) parents that are aware of the situation, however that's a whole another story!!

Jesus loves you Robert!
Why wouldn't he, Shunda. I'm a lovable sort of guy.
It's a funny statement really, never understood why Christians like to throw that around so much.
"He does? ummm ok then"

Heart-felt sympathies Shunda; what a horrific situation for all of you.
If nothing else, at least you know you've tried to help, and in my opinion are 100% right, in protecting your own immediate family from such poison.
Unlike in my mother's day, there is so much help out there, should your sister-in-law be willing to accept it.
