It's more pleasant , now that the sun's gone down. I've taken advantage of the coolness to transplant my iron-bark pumpkin and cucumber seedlings out into their place under the stars. Early tomorrow morning, I'll plant out another trays-worth of sweetcorn into the two beds I forked this evening and put in a couple of rows of the broad beans I've been soaking for the past two days. Mike, who visited today, said he's sprouted some goji berries that he bought as a dried fruit, after soaking them for a week! I'm going to try that too. The soil, btw, was as warm as toast down to a depth of about one hand, wrist to finger-tip, before any change in temperature could be detected.
Earlier today I saw fruit on the Manchurian gooseberry vine (actinidia) that's sprawling over the roof of the garage. Can't wait to try those babies.
Found a thrush inside of one of my carefully tucked-in red currant nets just now. Swine.

Robert, When I saw the headline "Cooling"on your blogsite, I thought for a moment you where expressing a considered opinion on Climate Change.
I was waiting for the opportunity, Colin. Now that you've provided one, I'll say unequivocally, I believe the globe is warming and that human industry is responsible for the extra heat that is causing problems with the climate and that that threat is increasing. That's my considered opinion :-)
Robert, luckily, in New Zealand we can still have a divergence of opinions on various issues but one has to wonder for how long?.
Sorry Robert, my reply to you 'took off' before I had signed my name.
