We advertise ourselves as a fishing village and it's true in part - the days when fishing dominated the Riverton economy are long gone but there are still fishing boats moored at the various wharves, not in the numbers there once were but still picturesque enough. I shot this reflective image this morning but it's not the stuff of postcards - too messy, too many houses clustered in the background, too noisy but that's how our town really is. No one's 'made a plan and stuck to it', the way they have in Arrowtown for example, and that's a good thing. Variety is the spice of life here and the ramshackle-ness that comes with it is an acquired taste.
