The finches must be feeling the pinch of winter and have, like the chickens, begun to venture closer to the house in search of nourishment. These sunflowers are spent, at least to the human eye, but not the finch. The little birds have been busy pecking the seeds from the heads of these wizened fleur de sol that grew right outside of our French doors.
