Needles, ploughs

Marty Mars weilds today's best expression as he describes the Chinese efforts to buy the Crafar farms and a number of other of New Zealand's resources.
Marty describes the process with the phrase 'In like a needle, out like a plough'.
That's very graceful and at the same time deeply worrying to those who are concerned that out country is being sold out from under us.
Solid Energy have adopted the same needle/plough method to advance their coal mining aspirations in Southland - it's just a very small briquetting plant, they say. Barely a pimple on the bum of Southland, but I see boils and know that where there are boils, there must be a lance :-)

What is a ploughshare anyhow?

Some sort of ancient stock broker term? ;)
