Quince (just been picking some). And... was just trying to remember the name of the other one as my neighbour's shrub is in fruit too.

I feel for the camera man in that case Nicko. In fact you'd have to, just to free him from the lycraless cyclists.

You're right, it is a japonica apple (destined for jellying, along with its mates).

The other fruit is from cornus capitata, the Himalayan strawberry tree.

Interesting. The one here is similar but not sure if it's the Himilayan one (the berries have the same hexagonal pattern but are smooth rather than raised). Will investigate. What do you do with them?

The birds eat them but this year I've collected them for jammin'. There's a recipe somewhere. I'll probably mix them with something. We've a ton of quinces this year, and crab apples.
