How do you guys know? I don't see any results up yet for the Southland regional council on the elections website, is there some local reporting suggesting Robert got on?
Fate Bioneer? Some very good friends and helpers I think and thank you for that!
Thanks Tim and Shunda - I'm pretty happy also to see who else got on at Environment Southland - the new council looks very positive indeed - a significant sifting and sorting has gone on. I was away giving a talk on apple trees for most of the day and didn't know the results til I got to my father-in-law's house and was met with a beaming face and a handshake. That was very nice.
Tim - I'll be blogging with people like you in mind! There are some talented and experienced people on that new council who don't regard 'environment' as a dirty word. I predict ... there will be interesting news eminating from ES over the next three years.
I had thoughts many years ago of getting into politics Robert, but never did anything about them, which was the right thing at the time.
Mrs Inventory doesn't share my passion, and given that we own a business that is in part government-funded (hence my anonymity), there would be all sorts of issues of conflict of interest. I commend those who do take the step however.
Oh, and there are probably a few too many skeletons in my closet ..
Skeletons Invent? Throw open the door - let in the light! I'm not one of those who has an interest in your identity Invent and those who are, on your blog, and who pit you against 'Mr Guyton' are unknown to me. I like nom-de-plumes and it's entirely the choice of those who employ them (as I used to do, Greenfly et al!)
Fantastic news Robert - it must feel great to receive this seat as a token of the public's confidence in your philosophies and passions - ride on - we're all behind you and you are up front doing all the pedalling!! Hope you've still got those kangaroo thighs!!
Cheers for that Robert; the comment wasn't directed at you. Whilst we are poles apart on many issues, I respect your willingness to argue a point (most of the time). Divergence of opinions is healthy, and it doesn't have to get personal.
Anyway, Environment Southland will definitely know you're there! Kia kaha, kia maia, kia manawanui.

It seems fate is on your side Mr Guyton, let me be the first to congratulate you ;)
And let me be the second - well done!

I'm impressed by your savoir-faire - I'd have spent the entire afternoon hunched over my computer, pressing "Refresh" furiously.
It would be interesting to read your analysis of how the new Council is likely to view pressing issues.

Congratulations Robert; it's clearly something you are passionate about, and all power to you for standing up for what you believe in.
Thanks Invent.
You're a passionate follower of politics of all sorts - did you consider standing somewhere?

Happy! Congratulations. We'll be behind you.

Invent - argue the point? Me?
Oh yes, even tiny ones, if they are important :-)
Thanks Sandra - I appreciate your support very much. What did you think of the mad crew on the platform?
What a blast!
