There's a new bad boy on the block and he's called Gum Leaf Skeletoniser but he's not going to be bad for long.
Female parasitic wasp Cotesia urabae will soon have him sorted in best bio-control tradition, according to ERMA and no harm at all will come from the introduction of a new wasp into the country.
It almost seems a shame to lose a villian with such a great name.
"The gum leaf skeletoniser is an Australian moth that became established in New Zealand around 2001. Its larvae feed on the leaves of eucalypts and several other ornamental species, producing the typical leaf ‘skeleton’" says ERMA NZ in this Scoop report.
