Powerful Chinese visitor

The Chinese Vice-President Xi Jinping,  currently visiting New Zealand says (in Mandarin),

 "Auckland is beautiful".

Hmmmmm.......
and will his visit see our Overseas Investment Office put under even more pressure over the Crafar farms deal?
I suspect so.

Why resist? set our prices high; there is enough investors in that market to buy New Zealand several times over; if we partake in some serious price fixing then there is easily enough $$ to be had for all 4mil of us to retire and live in... Oh hang on...

You're a cynic. Is that genetic?
Money eh! We all want more of that and the Chinese are loaded ..or is that just their offer?

Kia ora Robert,
This is a worry. All the nats see is dollar signs "right" now. If our rivers and waterways have become the messes they are on the flatlands without the help of the Chinese, I hardly think their environmental input based on their own record would be of any help.
Cheers,
Robb

They're being encouraged right now to invest in Southland Robb -from today's Southland Times:
"Venture Southland enterprise and strategic projects group manager Steve Canny said yesterday the Chinese economy was growing fast and China was on the lookout for opportunities in different countries.

He understood a couple of Chinese businessmen had visited Southland in the past two months to explore buying dairy farms and also look at fossil fuel opportunities."
