Forest-garden tour

I've just hosted one. The good folk representing the Southland Worm Breeders Association appeared to enjoy their jungle walk enormously and rewarded me with a 10 litre container of worm-tea and a carrot cake. Fair trade, I reckon. The highlights seem to have been the apple blossom, the herbal-understorey, the Guinea pigs, the kereru-bullying tui and the cob pizza oven. It was all a lot of fun.
Last night, Robyn and I spoke to the Wyndham Lions Club about our garden and Open Orchard heritage apple project and that was equally fun. We met with some true-blue Southland sons of the soil there and were given some great advice on where as some as-yet unsaved apple trees might be sequestered. We'll be back in the area in the autumn for a look.

There is a season, worms, worms, worms
And a time to every purpose under heaven

How can you possibly eat something that looks that good?
