Police slam quake crims

'While-driving' cell-phone usage is soaring in Christchurch since the earthquake. Psychologists say this kind of disregard for rules and laws in situations where major traumatic events have occured is well documented and to be expected.
Police, on the other hand, say they will show zero tolerence for lawless behaviour from Christchurch people, including those who talk on their phones while driving.

Why am i not surprised that you think it is okay to forget about obeying the law.

I'm not sure Anonymous - why are you not surprised that I'm forgetful - it's well known amongst my friends and family.

I know someone, well I knew someone who was killed by a texting driver. It a shame that you are so flippant about it - would it be more important to you if they ran over a native grass whilst texting.....I bet if they did you could find some way to blame it on the Government, or global warming, or a cow

Shaking hs - sometimes you need to be flippant over issues where life is lost - think of all the 'you know when you're in Christchurch when..jokes that have been circulating since the quake.
If you read my post ith an open mind you'll see that it's about the police attitude toward an understandable reaction from Christchurch people, traumatised by the quakes and not taking as much notice of some rules the way they were prior to the quakes. Some are texting as they drive, the way they did prior to the new rule yet the police are failing to apply a humanitarian point of view, saying 'zero tolerance' where I belive there is room for saome tolerance, due to the circumstance.
It's a shame that I have to expand the thinking of my post out to this extent, just because you are willing to jump to the 'worst case' scenario without consideration of the background. Your 'native grass' quip is kinda amusing but mainly daft.
