"The downside of being in government with National is having to put up with all the anti-worker, anti-beneficiary and anti-environment (and therefore anti-Maori) legislation that comes as a natural consequence of having a right-wing government. "
Hone Harawira points at the Emperor's nakedness and gets a serve from his own friends.
I'm entirely supportive of Hone and his straight talking.
His fellow Maori Party MP's however, are not.
Marty Mars describes the party's response.

Were you as supportive of Chris Carter?
I can't see any connection between Carter and Harawira who.
Was Carter pointing out that National's policies are destructive for Maori?
Chris Carter's antics are of no interest to me what so ever.
Why do they fascinate you so much?
The Connection (as I knew lefties would "fail to see") is this:
Chris Carter used the media to vent his dissatisfaction with his leadership and party's direction. Hone used the media to vent his dissatisfaction with his leadership and his party's direction.
The interest I have is the two different approaches that the left seem to be taking here. When it hurts them, they condemn it and kick the person (Chris) out. However, when it helps them they support him (hone) and think it is fine for the approach he takes.
Dont get me wrong here, I have no problem with people disagreeing with their party leaders or their party direction. However, there is a way to address their issues, using the media is not is. As I posted yesterday, Labour's (and the lefts) line was that Chris had gone the wrong way about airing his concerns. I agree with that them on that.
Now that Hone is doing the same (and it may or may not play to the left's advantage) they think it is fine. Double standards.
Who, who, are 'lefties'?
You seem to have an issue with 'them' and probably need to find one of their nests and wade in there with your blue blow-torch fired up :-)
As for an MP using 'the media' to criticise their own party - what do you fear from having the public involved? Should we not know what's goiung on behind the 'closed doors' of the political parties?
Perhaps you favour secrecy and 'internal management' of basic party issues but Hone Harawira, elected for his strength of character and liking for openess and truth, doesn't do 'covert'. He's the peoples' man and that's why I like him.
His openess frightens you?
Robert, Hone hardly has a clean slate here, he has his fair share of lapses of integrity that have nothing to do with workers rights, beneficiary rights, or the environment.
Straight talking he may be, but he has also made some massive errors in judgement.
And as far as anti environment = anti Maori, that is just insulting.
Maori are no more environmentally friendly than any other race in this country.
I have at times been in strong agreement with Hone, but then he goes and does, or says something totally crazy that makes it hard to see him as a balanced leader.
Shunda - no one's suggesting that he is a balanced leader. He's a revealer and when those revealed find themselves so, they fight. Tooth and claw.
Massive errors of judgement?
Those who voted for him don't think so.
Maybe you've got the wrong end of the stick here.
Maybe, but I'll need more convincing.
Maybe the stick has more than 2 ends?
You've railed against Hone from day one Shunda - I don't think you'll change your mind anytime soon and it doesn't matter that you're not a supporter.
I like his style and his bold honesty.
He's one of the few good guys.
Well I guess he did have a crack at Labour as well.
And White Mofo's! :)
He's an all-rounder.
