Pedal people

Nick sent this link through and an encouragement to see how the real trailer folk do it!
I liked this shot best of all!

I'd be wary of that stepped (alloy?) mast and power lines.

Was never an issue in my day with a wooden mast and a Z class. Mind you the thing was a bloody heavy beast (built of waterlogged kauri, painted canvas deck covering) for one to tow with the bike uphill to home when you were already knackered from a day's activity on the briny.

As an aside you also had to watch the uphill load on the 3 speed Sturmey-Archer nut-crunching gear system. It had a bad habit of slipping and failing to stay engaged on high load. With dire consequence, as you slid along the horizontal bar and your nether regions were forcefully introduced to the steering post...

Meanwhile closer to home:

Ha!
Memories eh PM!
The thought that I might haul our Sunburst (wooden mast) down to the slipway on a trailer was a fleeting one and yes, the trip back and up-hill was the clincher. Even the dinghy would be too heavy.
We've a glass Canadian canoe that would look fine enough on the trailer and would be too taxing on the final stretch. Perhaps tomorrow...
Do you still have the kauri Z?

Thanks for the NZ link James. I browsed the gallery and found Paul de Spa's 'billboard trailer', similar to the one I used for the Regional Council - and it worked!

Nope to the Zeddie. That was probably 40 years ago. My first boat brought from a Herald run. Can't even remember what I did with it. Probably sold it for the NZ Moth. Did have a Sunburst for a few years - Used to regularly circumnavigate Rangitoto and Motutapu in that.
