Gooseberry sponge

First, wrestle the goose gogs from their thorny nests; that is, pick'em and bring 'em inside.
Second, stew 'em up, then mix up the sponge, flour, eggs, that sort of thing. Pop 'em in the oven.
When your gooseberry sponge is baked, serve it up, eat it, share it and rest on your laurels for the evening, secretly thanking your lucky stars that it didn't burn or come out raw.
That's how you make gooseberry sponge.
