Manufacturing a vasculum

I'm in the throes of making a vasculum to augment my Steampunk outfit - gentleman botanist that is, and have a couple of 'vessels' that might serve as a base - my fathers leather bowls-bag (2 Henselite with turtle logos) and a shoulder-bag that once held a pair of binoculars. The chances of finding a real vasculum before next Friday are remote, so I'm going to try to fabricate one from one of these and other assorted bits and pieces.
Here's what it won't look like, more's the pity.
