Uh-oh, Dr Morgan seems to have got another thing correct. The presentation is a bit slick for my liking, but I agree with the direction of where he's heading. Basically, we eat too much crap. And cats eat too many native birds. I read somewhere that Gareth's keen to rid Stewart Island of cats, and he's prepared to put his money where his mouth is. Is that right? That sounds like a fairly effective way of creating a very large safe haven for native birds, and you'd have to be an idiot to oppose that. Or a hater of native birds. Or both.
Maybe Armchair Gareth is using his own prejudices towards cats to seek the cause of the decline in native birds ! Stoats rats and possums etcwould do a lot of harm in destroying native bird life. Feral Cats are bad news and do kill and should be destroyed.
But I think you will find the average well loved and cared for household moggy gets the blame for the native bird life destruction which reality is not the problem at all for the destruction of bird life.

I think there is a conspiracy going on here. Is it that we need to eat more cats I wonder. More natural food?
