Ok...I give in....what is the flax thing?
It's the 'hood' that shelters our cob oven from the rain. Thatched with cabbage tree leaves. Unfortunately, I inadvertently burned it to a crisp in a moment of inattention. Now, we have a roof made from slate, which burns poorly.
Oh...thanks for that....you have just given me an idea for a chicken shelter made of flax leaves :)
