I believe there has been no worse year for the natural world in the past half-century.

George Monbiot doesn't muck around, calling 2012,
"The year we did our best to abandone the natural world".

"It was the year of living dangerously. In 2012 governments turned their backs on the living planet, demonstrating that no chronic problem, however grave, will take priority over an immediate concern, however trivial."

The rest of Monbiot's article won't cheer you up any more than the opening paragraph will have, but there were are, well and truly denying reality.

Its getting a bit hot over there :)

I think you are quite correct, pauline. The heat is on and we'll not be able to ignore it so close to home. I hope there are no disastrous fires.

Yes I agree re fires in Australia that is scary indeed, what is intersting is that Australia's weather paterns are a copy of Russia's in recent times.

Russia suffered horrific fires and crop loss which ultimately will affect this countries ability to feed its own people.

On the positive side it could put pressure on NZ rural industry to have less cows and put in more crops on our land. For this type of production could become in high demand overseas, due to their loss in crops because of global warming.

Also as more of these disastourous weather patterns occur this will help to put pressure on (the selfish and blinded to CC )nations like China and US to do something serous about the stopping the emissions they are creating.

Bush fires in Australia can affect those of us who live in Southern NZ. I remember the orange skies and falling ash from fires of the past brought over by the winds. It's another reason to object to any plans Australia might have to build nuclear power plants on their east coast.

So who is in denial then?

robertguyton said...

Ummm..I'm guessing....you?

Wrong - it's Monblot. The world has been cooling for over a decade and he's still pressing the warmener button fast and furious.

Great emotional rhetoric, but he's all shirt and no trousers.

Ah! My guess was correct.

Looks like I was mistaken - tis indeed both Monblot and yourgoodself in denial.

The emporer has no clothes, but his courtiers are playing along in the vain hope that invisible clothes are real. Sadly for you the populace have woken up and moved on, bored with the charade.

The crowd moving on is reflected in the politicians approach. None will have the balls to come out and say "we were wrong, climate change is a farce", they're just letting the issue wither away in the hope they don't get any backlash for wasting taxpayers funds on the scam.
