Dictatorship to remain in place

"Environment Canterbury commissioners to stay

Commissioners will continue to govern Environment Canterbury after the 2013 local authority elections, Local Government Minister David Carter and Environment Minister Amy Adams announced today."

More shame on the Government.

yes the very reason they should have been tossed last election ..and would have been if but for the 35% of the voters whom were to selfish too lazy too unpatriotic .. whom couldn't be responsible and care enough to go to the polling booth last November.

Gotta get the 'didn't vote' ers to vote this time around, pauline. The local bye-lection wasn't a good sign though. I hope to whip it up when the next local body elections roll around.

Sadly from my experience particularly of the younger generation at SIT..very good and expressing their opinon and literally demanding you agree with them ..OR YOU have a problem...

BUT when they are questioned about voting ..hehe giggle giggle NO they didnt vote local or general election and it is very obvious from their attitude they have no intention of voting next time ....

Voting means been responsible making good choices .... that for some that is in the too hard basket.. so no thanks ...prefer to just have fun etc

But good luck Robert if you think you can help to change this thinking ..re the vote for by election...last local bodies election the average via the whole country was 33% !!

Yes we need Internet voting, this could help to change the growing voters apathy. ...

Not sure if the powers to be want that though they might reject any change of voting systems ..as it might challenge their cosy little club. Internet voting could see newbies be elected and then will be replacing some of their comfortable always get re-elected councilors.

How about a campaign that demands, "Vote, you lazy b*stards!"?
