Riverton has a new, council-sanctioned civic art-work in this piece by local artist 'Holy Cross K', as the work is signed :-)
Here're three views; the tourist shot, the arty-farty and a close-up of the sculptors signature ( taken from the back to add mystery.)
Any and all comments welcomed.

holy! wow, never have I risen to such lofty hieghts before, whilst it could resemble me at the bottom of the cross, my t represents my design name, towack, boring huh.
Towack = Tuhawaiki - nothing boring about Bloody Jack, Animal. I've heard nothing but praise for the sails...yet. Has there been an opening? Perhaps I missed it, being tied-up over the weekend. If so, I'd enjoy a report. Was there champagne? A bottle-cracking launch? Dignitaries? Hecklers?
Sadly no opening, I think the Board try best to be invisible when things around the focal point are in the lime light. I have received great comments which is cool, no hecklers yet, but I'm sure our towns prolific 'letter to the editor' writer of a Dutch origin will be able to come up with something, she must do, cos she comments on everything else - :)
As an outta-towner, don't know if I'm entitled to comment, I think it's very cool but not enamoured with the wooden framing...kinda think they would be better free-standing if that possible.
Please don't take offence Animal, this is coming from some-one who can't draw a stick figure!
I'm not offended at all - mainly because I totally agree. The wooden frame was actually built for another reason that did not eventuate. The silly thing is that there are fantastic hardwood beams surrounding this area and they used pine for the frame - however it is now stained black which is an improvement
Do you find just thinking of college to be overwhelming? Do you not know how you are going to go about it? If you find college to be a daunting prospect, you have lots of company. College is a whole new world, but you can make sure that you are ready and not overwhelmed. 3gathome.com |
