The Frenchman goes fishing
Simon's keen to land a flounder or two and has fashioned a spear for the purpose. Tonight's high-tide is around 6:00pm and he'll be thigh-deep in the estuary then, lamp lit and beady eye to the sand. Proof that there are fish there for the taking is this shot of a fine, fat flounder hauled out of the water this morning by old netters dragging beside the bridge. Hopefully, this fish wasn't the last. I'll report back on the success or otherwise of Simon the Frenchman. He'll have an Austrian, an American and a Brit in attendance, should he need help landing the flatfish.

Did he catch one?
Flounder fishing is something I am keen to try, it doesn't get mentioned much around here but I have been told they are here in abundance and my own observations seem to confirm that.
Do you have any objection fishing for these flat fish Robert?
Not one on one, Shunda. I get tetchy when the commercial operators set up their over-night nets - that's just wrong.
He's delayed going out for flatfish and chosen line-fishing for cod instead. he's pretty staunch though, and I'm betting tomorrow will see him out on the sand-flats...
I agree Robert, keep it fair and keep it sustainable.
You will one day have to come and see the wetland restoration/walkway we have been working on, it is becoming very popular with the public and it is a real ecological hot spot.
I will.
