Southern electoral candidates will line up at a “political speed dating” forum in Invercargill next week.
Invercargill National MP Eric Roy will take on Labour candidate Lesley Soper, the Greens’ Dave Kennedy and Democrats leader Stephnie de Ruyter in a quick-fire debate ranging from welfare to education.
The forum will be held at the Lindisfarne Community Centre at 7pm on November 9, (next Wednesday).
ACT’s Clutha-Southland candicdate Don Nicolson could also be attending.
The various political aspirants will have two minutes each to speak on each topic.
The forum is being organised by the Public Service Association.

Im sorry Robert I wont be there ...its my last exam next day .... I would have love to tangle Roy in regards his support of the lignite mining ...he says the land can be rejuvenated ..YEAH how Eric ..Jan Wright says 12 and half million tons of lignite per annum will be mined ...oh where is all the land fill coming from Eric as some wise crack said oh we will import land fill from Australia well when you think of all the damage to the ecology in WA by mining I guess we might as well add to there WA destruction....
I also wold love to test the candidates support on democracy and Govt interference re ECAN ... ah well back to the study
We'll see what we can do on your behalf, Pauline. Good luck with your last exam!
Robert do not allow it to be forgotten the treat by Dons mate re to the ES candidates last election .."If you dont behave ( or words to that effect ) The govt will do an Ecan on Environment Southland elected councilors!! If you will remember I wrote a letter to the Times after the elections saying not to worry re ( an Ecan dismissal ) re Elections this years The Nats wouldn't want to upset the apple cart ..BUT if they are elected back in I wouldn't trust Keys/English not too suck up to the Don Hamiltons etc of this world!!!
Blew me away this morning paper at the age these politicians are I thought Roy was older than 63 and English 49 ..heck Roy claims hes a hard worker etc hes being MP for over 40yrs ( well known for being a do nothing MP...and he criticise those on the benefit Hmmmmm ...what is he relying on Taxpayer support re MP salary
English oh yeah he understand the working man etc from Uni to Parliment for over 20plus years ...I am becoming in favour of the US system where MPs have to resign after say two terms of office they can come back in later ..but they need to get out of their protective environment and get an idea of how the rest of us survive!!
By the way notice how different the results by the Horizon polls are to these other ones coming out!!
Sorry The word should be threat not treat
Hope your exam goes well Pauline!
Ecan, eh Pauline!
We shall see.
