"The over-reaction of the Prime Minister John Key to the tea-tape saga sets a dangerous precedent, Green Party Co-leader Metiria Turei said today.
Following a complaint from John Key four media outlets, including Radio New Zealand and TVNZ, are to be searched by Police for material they might have in their possession that relates to the tea tapes.
“People have the right to privacy, however the actions of the Prime Minister involving the Police are extreme,” said Mrs Turei."
The Greens see Key's behaviour for what it is - ridiculous, bordering on dangerous.

Prime Minister John Key made time in his diary this week for a secretive meeting with the boss of an oil company that wants to undertake deep sea drilling off New Zealand’s coast.
The company is controversial; it was party to the 2010 Deepwater Horizon spill in the Gulf of Mexico, one of the biggest environmental disasters in history.
Greens should be onto this to give it the bright light of day.
I saw that on the news, Anonymous and am sure it didn't pass under the Green radar.
Perhaps Robyn Malcolm and Lucy Lawless might have something to say about that.
Who gives a rats ar$se what Robyn Malcolm and Lucy Lawless think about anything, they play make believe (and poorly) for a living for crying out loud.

Shunda - I find your comment very interesting and wonder what it is you believe makes actresses unable to understand environmental issues. Do you think Lawless and Malcolm are not intelligent, or maybe that they are somehow unable to hold views about anything other than acting? Are performers 'dumb', in your view?
Certainly when it comes to conveying a message to an audience, they have an advantage over ordinary people. You try getting an anti coal message across to the public of New Zealand and see how far your influence takes that message!
I remember how John Key dismissed Keisha Castle-Hughes in the same, disparaging way. It seems a very arrogant and somewhat 'snobby' thing to do.
Gee Robert, do you know anyone who religiously watches Malcolm's shows like 'outragous fortune'???
Please, the use of such "actresses" is tacky, cheap, and just a bit too Hollywood for most of us.
Proper environmentalism doesn't need any more tacky crap added for 'palatability' especially from people who have done nothing for society and possibly done quite a bit of harm.
If you want to play it like this, don't complain when your opposition does the same.
