Idle thoughts on occupation

Robert Winter hits the nail square on the head with his post on the Right wing's teeth-gnashing over the Occupy movement. The following quote from Idle Thoughts of an Idle Fellow, perfectly describes the 'thinking' that I see elsewhere on the interweb and in the board room and I thank Robert for distilling the view so subtly.

"In part this is because the Right only just allows their support for the vote, which many of them think is itself a step too far in terms of democracy. They do not like at all the idea of a popular voice beyond the vote - civil society raising its head from an otherwise decreed position of submission."

Hmmm, I am confused, you're talking about the Labour party?

Seems the left in general have their own 'rules' on who is allowed to talk and what they are 'allowed' to talk about.

You are confused, Shunda!
Perhaps if you had a look at Robert's complete post, you'd get it.

Great post - thanks for sharing that Robert.

Personally, i put the mocking and crying from certain bloggers and the right down to fear.

It is not at all unlike the hatred and mocking shown towards Quade Cooper during the RWC.

People don't pay attention to, or hate, or mock something or someone that doesn't matter. They do that when they are scared, or perceive them as a threat.

Had Quade Cooper been on our side - he would have been a hero - because he is good.

If the protesters were protesting for GREED - they would be heros. They aren't though. They are protesting for change and a fair society where finance companies and the rich don't steal off the poor.

Change is a scary thing when all that matters to you is your bank balance.

Well said, Jacqueline. I imagine that you feel as I do, when you are blocked, ignored or belittled by the commentators on blogs like keeping Stock, where the very behaviour you describe is par for the coures. Intelligent discussion would tease out the details and resolve some of those behaviours, but that discussion is not allowed to happen. I don't think that the squashing of debate is always deliberate there, it's just that there is no self-reflection going on, despite the best efforts of people like yourself to reflect back some of their more foolish views. I know I've tried and tried :-)

Blocking, belittling, and ignoring ( as opposed to explaining ) is losing! So i don't mind that so much!

Keep on keeping on! That's the only way!

Yes, and Inv2's so nice to you, you'll get away with anything :-)

Someone has to like me! I think he feels sorry for me! haha

INV2 is alright. Heart is in the right place. Like i said on KS - just cause someone is on a different road to the one we are on, doesn't mean they are lost.

He is on a different road, but he's all good.

He is mad at you at the moment! Crack up. I was laughing so hard last night after your explaining is losing comment!

His gout's giving him merry hell at the moment, and his Super Hero's undies have been shown to be holey!
No wonder he's all a'froth!
