Mr Key's War on P - FAIL
Judge: Much more P available
"The availability in Southland of methamphetamine, or P, and the behaviour associated with it had increased dramatically, Judge Kevin Phillips said yesterday when sentencing an Invercargill drug dealer."
The Southland Times reveals that the 'war on P', John Key's frenetic attempts to stem the tide of P, is much like that of King Canute's efforts to turn back the progress of the briny. Despite banning cough medicines, Key's war has failed, as described in today's Times article.

So what you do, Rg?
would
Fred said "would"
Fred would say 'would',wouldn't he! (Reminds me that Edward Woodwood would, too.)
'Coming on strong' in the manner of Key (P) and Judith (never crushed a single car) Collins, Chopper Tolley and Big Ger, Demolition Man, Brownlee, isn't an effective method of achieving lasting solutions, especially when it comes to drugs. Hard line programmes designed to 'smash' drugs invariably fail. Key chose the authoritarian, populist War of Drugs model, and has failed, as we expected. The answer is more subtle and more reasonable than authoritairans like Key and his cronies in National can conceive of. I'd take the brighter path here and follow examples from elsewhere that have worked. Tolley's national standards is another example of this dumb Tory thnking - smack it down hard and it'll fit!
Nope,it won't.
So how would you do it, Rg?
Are you 'granting' me the powers of an authoritarian Prime Minister for the purpose, Fred?
If you can articulate how to address the issues surrounding drug use in a few paragraphs, you deserve to be the authoritarian PM. In fact, I'll even vote for you to be authoritarian PM.
Naturally enough, I cannot, Armchair Critic. I was just hoping Fred would grant me the power, then I'd dismiss the present Cabinet of Oafs, and get on with the complex job of reorganising society in a way that resulted in a decreased desire amongst it's constituents to partake in such anti-social and personality-damaging drugs as 'P'.
To be fair I think no one is that articulate.
I'd start by decriminalising possession for personal use, allow pharmacies to sell to registered addicts and return all proceeds and more into rehab and education.
You and me both, AC.
Fred? Ready to enable us?
Rob, Jacqueline, Fred and Armchair...you'd all make an awesome foursome in the debating chamber...go for it!
D'ya wanna be the one who rings the wee bell, Suz?
Nah, a big gong.
