She's breaking up!

I'm like a worried father! Prudence (the extrudence) is splitting. I'm not sure whether this is good or bad or if there's anything I should be doing.
This might be a long night.
I'll order up some mulled wine and climb into my thermals.

It's a good thing, it's 'skin' splitting to release the spores underneath. All part of the plan :)

It's going to spread?
How far?
I don't think I've quite grasped what this conglomerate actually is! Should I be thinking Borg?
Jinty says it's brainy. What if I annoy it (some 'people' don't like constant attention from the media).
Ought I to try to contain it?
Quarantine?

If you are serving mulled wine bring an extra glass Rg. It could take me awhile to get down from the north though.

Let me know when you get here Fred. there's always more on hand.

It's like a soap opera, only slimier...!

Well, she's not slimy, or soapy - more 'skinny', like a bladder filled with oatmeal and she's firming-up. She seems very vulnerable - exposed to stares of all and sundry. What if a bird takes it into its thin-skulled head to peck her? There are a lots of wax-eyes around at the moment. I wonder if she was forming underneath the log (which is gorse btw, a trunk as thick as Jonah Lomu's thigh that I brought back from the reserve where we were cutting the 'pest' plant) before I turned it over, which I did, last week. And the weathers not good just now - is she cold?

Ha,

It won't so much spread, as put forth is spores and hopefully establish some new bodies on some other wood. I gather the spores are wind-borne so you can just leave it be :)

The sons and daughters of Prudence!
A colony of colonies. It's all quite sci-fi and not a little disturbing.
I've a huhu post coming up David, that I'm sure you'll enjoy, written by a friend who has nursed a grub through the past several months and now detects signs of pupation or metamorphosing or whatever it is huhu do. His name is Howie (the grub. The grub's fairy godfather's name is Mark.)
