Polly Higgins

How marvellous that the newest environmental champion on the scene is named 'Polly Higgins'.
In the tradition of Eliza Doolittle, Mary Poppins, Nanny McPhee and Cosyjoy Bundlesweet, Polly is, I hope, a woman with a sweet demeanour and a spine of steel. She's here in New Zealand to open the eyes of all grizzled industrialists and unscrupulous politicians to the plight of the environment and the need to prosecute those who ruin it. Those who back the aforementioned ecociders will be busy mocking and demeaning Polly, there's no doubt, but others will promote her visit and her message. I'm in the 'others' camp.
Here's a link to Frogblog's coverage.

is she swimming here or catching a plane or even a ship. I guess that as long as she plants a tree somewhere it will be ok aye bOb?

I can agree with her that those that destroy the environment need to be penalised, but then she starts on the whole global warming bulldust. And thats where she just loses it.

You guys need to understand - Carbon Dioxide is a life gas. Without it there is no life on earth.

If you just stick to addressing the real environmental issues that get ignored because of the rush for big government money in climate change then there would be more public support.

What's with the truisms paranormal? Has anyone ever said differently? You imply that I, or people like me, might think the opposite. Seems like a strawman argument/statement to me!

jabba - you're simply not paying attention.
She came by umbrella.

The "life gas" argument is pretty shallow. The truism could be "all things in moderation", which would include life gasses. It is quite possible to have too much of what would otherwise be a good thing.
A lot of smart people have said that, in the case of carbon dioxide, we probably do have too much. They also said how we got it, the effects it might have and what we can do about those effects. But that isn't the subject of this post.

what's the umbrella made of?

Good on you Robert and Armchair Critic. Focus on the non issue of CO2 instead of the real problem set out in my last paragraph above.

We do have real environmental issues but they will never be addressed whilst so much big government money is focussing minds and resources elsewhere.
