I always look forward to tomorrow,Rg, for it never comes. Thus I am always looking forward.
Grey and calm here "today" - I am off to spray the liverwort with a mix of cider vinegar and malt vinegar.

Always something to look forward to then Fred, lucky you!
Re your liverwort, why's it growing where it is?
How effective is the vinegar treatment?

Because, Rg, in our relatively old, and lovingly neglected garden there are quite a few shady areas that remain damp for long periods. We inherited the stuff from garden centres many tears sorry years ago and failed to give it the credit due for its ability to colonize!!
I will tell you about the effectiveness of the vinegar potion in the fullness of time - only learnt about it recently; and with rain 2 out of 3 days since July the spray program is running a tad behind this season.

I love relatively old and lovingly neglected gardens.
Such a garden was the inspiration for my whole green world view - it was overgrown with flag iris and no-one, except this trespassing boy, ever seemed to go there.
The very best gardens, it seems to me, are ones that have been worked for decades then allowed to relax as their owners slow down with age. The soil has by then become fecund and the garden self-managing, to an extent. seedlings pop up willy-nilly. Insects and birds are unafraid. Eden.
