Ban Ki-moon - here to clear the air

Fresh from a mangrove-planting stint in Kiribati, United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon is here in New Zealand to pressure, in the most diplomatic of ways, John Key to address the global issue of climate change. Will our Prime Minister mention the proposed open cast coal mine on the Deniston Plateaux? The proposed open cast mine lignite mine at Mataura? The numerous off-shore oil rigs proposed for deep-sea locations all around our coast? The gas fracking developments in Taranaki and Southland? His Government's going-ahead plans for more vehicle-encouraging motorways? The obviously-planned exemption for agriculture from any climate change programme?
Where will Mr Key begin, in his soft-soaping of Mr Ban?
Some days being Prime Minister must be so challenging!
I await Ban Ki-moon's comments with great interest, though getting those through the soap-enabling New Zealand media will be a challenge for even the Secretary General.

Ban and Connie the conwoman both being here must indicate they are shitting bricks that we are waking up to the climate fraud that has chanelled billions to NGO's, research walla's and other parasites for a net sum difference to global temperature of????
They are here to ensure the comrades are kept in line and keep the dough flowing to their pet projects.. A polite hello and good bye will do!

What a brilliant grasp of international politics you have Anonymous! And having seen through the Climate Change con means you are clearly far more intelligent than the average Kiribatian.
It's a pleasure to have you commenting here.

I'm not sure how you would compare the intelligence of anon@6:55 and a Kiribatian, but the latter are sure "smart' enough to recognise the gift horse that is the "climate change mitigation fund" A scam that keeps on giving, so to speak.

Typical Green headline:

Ban Ki Moon

Might I ask do you have some link to undisputed rock solid tidal data for Kiribata? Other than a few Spring High Tides and the touchy feely platitudes of one whose job depends on continuing climate change falsehoods?

Ha!
A sense of humour - so rare amongst the Anonymi.

Kiribatians, scamming the West whilst enjoying their secure island life, laughing into their pina coladas.
That's a stretch.

PmofNZ - going of half-cocked again PM!
I made no claims for Kiribati, other than to mention that Ban Ki-moon was there recently.
What do you reckon Key said to Mr Ban?
Gave him the run-around I imagine. What a shyster Key is.

There was a very informative interview on National Radio, 9 to noon yesterday. Connie Hedegaard gave a good interview on how Europe was meeting its climate change committments. So nice to hear information on world's best practise for a change rather than what NZ and Oz are failing to do.

For those climate change conspiracy theory types, put your money where your mouth is, go buy land in Kiribati or the Mildives. There is no shortage of people willing to sell.

Kathryn Ryan didn't seem to really appreciate that Europe & NZ are on the same planet when talking about climate change. She asked questions about how Europe was reducing emissions, but didn't relate that to how NZ must do the same.

I wonder if countries that are actually reducing CO2 emissions will start to put up trade barriers or introduce big tarriffs on countries who fail to act effectively (ie NZ) That would wipe the smile off Key's face.

Hey anonymous & co, how about you go away, grow up, get an education and rejoin the discussion when you have a 21st century understanding of reality. Failing that, how about emigrating to the USA & joining the tea party.

Thanks Jonesy - I'll listen to that on-line as I respect your recommendation. It contrasts well with Anon@6:55's petty 'conwoman' smear.
Your advice to the cctt's to pay up or shut up was very satisfying also.

Viv - your message to the same crabbed malcontents was equally encouraging to read. Trade might indeed be the only lever that moves Key. That or an embargo on publicity photos for the vain fellow.

Jabba - you are lying when you say I'm only rarely in your thoughts. You are just a little bit obsessed and though it's cute in someone your age, some would find it disturbing.
