The Winter of our discontent

On the brink of an abyss. That's where we are according to the media of the world, staring into the maw of a hungry world economic crisis but there's nary a whisper of our potential fate in our New Zealand newspapers. Robert Winter writing on Idle Thoughts of an Idle Fellow struggles with the insularity we are subject and party to here in our little Pacific nation and here gives shape to his thoughts about the gloom that's spreading across the globe.

It is truly jaw-dropping, but at least we're well-informed on Shane Warnes manorexia look.

The universe is all about cycles. Industrial revolution/capitalism in its current form seems to have had its turn. Where will be the next place money wheedles its way? I hope to feeding and clothing and sheltering peaceful humans via the benefits of the cycle that has just passed, (instead of via its such obvious flaws). Violent, authoritarian, pious, selfish and angry people can go to the back of the line.
Remember the trickle down effect? Seems there's a metaphorical drought.

Yes Suz - I2 keeping life's important issues front and centre. Robert Winter's more my cup o' char.
Lex - nice 'drought' allusion. I'd like to see your pious authoritarians going to the back of the line but they're not going to do that anytime soon. We just have to make a new line and leave them scrapping over the old one.
