I don't buy the Otago Daily Times because it isn't available in Riverton.
On line, they print their letters and this one is indicative of what Otago people think :-)
"Mr Key's leadership represents the new wave of power politics that are sweeping the world. All over, the humanitarian politician is being replaced by the economic savvy/business person politician. They are ruthless in their drive to preserve and let continue the monetary system, a system that is outdated and fails to reflect the actual reality of a resource dependant world.
For us to sell to the Chinese our precious resources is an absolute belly flop. We might as well garnish NZ and serve it with some Peking dipping sauce.
Be warned, our waterways, our lands, our manufacturing and in short our freedom to our way of living our lives is going to be under threat. That is if we keep a power in that supports the sale of NZ.
People of Dunedin, please do the right thing. "

It's not all Southlanders Bio. Many didn't make the mistake at the last election and many more will be sure to avoid that mistake this time around.

Thats 2 votes Rg. I guess it is a start. As you gather I share some of your concerns - not this one. This post has several threads - again some of of which I am comfortable with, but to suggest Key is similar to the w....k...s who are currently wrecking Europe and the US borders on the laughable.
He may upset you with some of his govts policies, but he is more in tune with the future for NZ Inc than his predecesessor whose goal was to make it to her current position. Got to give her an A for getting there - just a pity it has cost NZ so much on the way.

Key love .v. Key loathing is one of those issues, like abortion, that seems to have no middle ground, no chance that the protagonists will change their view, ever.
Key and his key ministers provoke a gutteral response from me in much the same way Clark seems to have done for you. Curious isn't it? I'd like to see what these people are like, guard down, so as to judge them fairly. I've met and spoken with quite a few politicians now (I'm a collector- Brash, Peters, Donald, Dunne, Goff, Harawira, Hunt etc...) Key included but sadly, not Helen Clark, save from a distance of several metres. I like to think I 'get' them when talking with them face to face.
Didn't like Winston Peters.
Didn't like Key.
I have not had the opportunity to get 'close' to the politicians you have - best I can offer is Simon Power. He impressed me. I knew Bruce Beetham personally and when he was not politicing he was very interesting to talk to about politics. Much like a clergyman/theologan. Heavy weather in church but a fund of info on his own.
But back to today, Rg. Can you be more explicit about Mr. Key and what it is that gives you grounds for your opinion - please!
