We pooled to Balclutha last night to speak as a panel to the Forest and Bird meeting (open to the public, journalist in attendance!) about the lignite mines of Mataura.
It was a lively meeting, with lots of questions from the floor around both social and environmental issues that might result from Solid Energy's activities not so very far away from Balclutha. We left Invercargill as the sun was going down and didn't get back til midnight. You'll be able to work out that this photo of palings and colonial era house at Milton can't have taken last night as it was dark and because Milton is further north than Balclutha.
I took it on another trip.
