The new Act man

Asked if he thinks the Emmissions Trading Scheme is a con someone came up with, he replies: "I do think it is exactly like that."

It is part of a United Nations effort to move resources from developed to developing countries to grow them out of the poverty trap, he says. "It is about creating jobs to prevent anarchy."

So, a group of shadowy powerful people decided to make the ETS for job-creation? "Yes, but I'm not a conspiracy theorist. I don't know where the round table was that devised this scheme, but I think the genesis was in a green movement somewhere.

"I have to say the green movement has done a great job of getting into the hearts and minds of the international population. They have infiltrated everywhere."

Goodness gracious me! It seems Don Nicholson, Act's latest sign-on, is a loopy as a hangman's noose! Andrew Geddis @ Pundit goes on to tease out Don's lunacy.

"Well, that's just peachy. And please note - Don Nicolson is not a conspiracy theorist. He just believes that the "green movement" has for the past several decades created an international web of lies, supported by virtually every research scientist looking at issues of climate change, that has been so successful that it has deluded virtually every national government ... into giving poor countries money their money so as to "prevent anarchy".
Party vote Act - or the shape-shifting lizards will win!"

Pretty funny stuff from Geddis and completely insane nonsense from Don Nicholson. I'll be going to as many of the Clutha/Southland candidate meetings as I can, just so I can hear this goofy fantasy stuff straight from the horse's mouth. Bill English will be there too, defending his turf and he's spouting equally fantastical nonsense as well, so it'll be a fine time in the ol' town's on those nights. The questions that are forming in my head already :-)
Even a placard with ETS printed on it should send Don plunging into the abyss of his own madness, I'm thinking...

I think you will find the public have moved on from the global warming myth and placed it in the same basket as flying pig flu and Y2K.

The reason why it hasn't died a natural is the evil big money that keeps it alive. Yes that's evil government money. Funding the lies of global warming alarmists like Al Gore and scientists who falsify data rather than risk losing lucrative funding that helps governments justify additional taxation rorts.

Just sayin thats all.

Kia ora Robert,
I have to admit I used to enjoy the cartoon section of the Sunday Star Times where Don actually wrote articles for a bit. They were always a bit of a laugh, if not for the deadly belief behind his views. Particularly him telling us how clean the Manawatu river really is, and all BECAUSE of the farming industry.

Anonymous, it's clear you are Don, well, one of them anyway :-)

Good grief man, you are spouting the very same deluded crap that Nicholson is, despite the very clear messages from a significant section of the intelligent end of the New Zealand commentariat (I think that's the correct term for those who comment).
I despair of you. Don will be lampooned for his fruit-loop denialism now that he's gone public. Few bothered when he was a Federated F*****, as Cactus Kate calls them, because they all seem to subscribe to the same delusion and en masse it isnt funny. Now, he'll be made fun of, as Hide was, as Brash will be. Surely, surely Odgers won't be as dippy! I suspect she'll withdraw as she sees who's sharing the Act bed now. Calvert's the pin-up girl for the dis-engaged. Now Don's taken the male title. It's just too much to take in in one week. Brash and Ansell's self-torpedoeing was heady enough, but now 'nothing-to-see-here' Nicholson is just a step too far.

Hey Robb - how are things? I hope you've had a chance to get outdoors and blow away those cobwebs.
Don's hard-core head-in-the-sand that's for sure. I've spent an hour talking with him, breakfasting in a hotel in Wellington. He's clever enough and has had a lot of experience with high-ranking pollies but his world view never formed properly - born too soon I'm guessing, like a July lamb. He'll provide us with entertainment though, I don't doubt.

Deluded - thats exactly what I believe you followers of the new religion are.

As if the commentariat are people to turn to for fact and reality. I prefer science. Real science coupled with my understanding of how the world works following years of studying and working in the area.

A fine example of the quality of your so called experts is the paper submitted in 1910 to an Australian university where the PHD candidate was proposing long term weather forcasting based on coral sea surface temperatures. He was laughed out of the university delaying the discovery and understanding of el nino and la nina by decades.

Why is it you rely on closed minded academics such as these for your belief in the new religion? You are no different to to those that persecuted Gallileo.

I guess for you devout only time will show you what is evident.
