Chutzpa
Fred Tulett, editor of the Southland Times has got plenty of it. Chutzpa that is. He's not tiptoeing around on ground where angels fear to tread but leaping in boots and all! Good man! Challenging John Key, forcing him to 'fess up rather than damp down and obfuscate the way the Prime Minister does when there are things he doesn't want us to know (Key treats New Zealanders like children - we still aren't big enough to know why Richard Worth was sacked) and willingly facing the rapid-response of Israeli 'responders' who seem poised to comment the moment any 'incident' occurs, involving Israelis. The Southland Times letters to the editor section was choked with them just one day after Fred broke the story of the Israeli killed in the Christchurch earthquake, the unseemly flight home of his life long friends, the phone calls from the Israeli Prime Minister to Key, the rescue team and their determination to get to the body of the dead Israeli man and the still debated multiple passport issue, that Key denies but our local lad Fred insists is factual.
It's a great debate and is serving to prise open some jammed doors, making, in my view, our Prime Minister look shifty and Fred Tulett into a local hero for democracy!
The story is far from extinguished.
