Did other families have these Chinese paper lanterns hanging from their ceilings as part of their Christmas decorations, or was it just mine?
Until I got married and saw how other families celebrated (and decorated for) Christmas, I'd assumed that it was normal to hang these delicate paper decorations up, along with other Christmasy bric-a-brac; tinsel, wreaths of holly and so on.
No?
Crikey!
This one has had its day, done its dash and went into the fire this morning, during a spate of tidying. I was kinda saddened to see it go. It had been around for years and years saying, to me at least, Merry Christmas.

Sorry little lantern. We may have been too rough
Nothing lasts forever Bio - just as well it wasn't a tea-cup :-)
No you are not alone, I grew up with one these hanging from the ceiling at Christmas.
That's a relief!
I love them.
I wonder if you had any of the other decorations I've kept from the ol' tree? I'll post some pictures later.
