Flying to Stewart Island

The airport was all but empty - ash had put a stop to all flights out of Invercargill, but our little gad-fly was still going and so we clambered aboard.
Here are two pics that tell the story.

Wings are wonderful things - especailly when they stay attached to the fuselage - and ours did!


And there's the strip we were hoping for. The turbulence at this point was ... attention-holding.

Reminds me of the teenie weenie Cessna I skydive out of; no danger of ever getting in the wrong seat as there's only one for the pilot! I'm sure yours was flasher than that.

Only marginally. A sudden lurch a I cracked my head on the ceiling. At no point though, was I tempted to jump out :-)

A parachute and a man strapped to your back doing all the work makes a big difference!

If Terry and I outbid Roy on Trademe, I'll take her up with me next time.
