We're leaving in droves according to reports, and it's damaging our economy.
I remember at the last election how the National Party and it's trumpeters made great fanfare of the Labour Government's record for losing New Zealanders to Australia. Their own efforts, or lack thereof, have made the situation worse! It's being called a ' kangaroo-kick to the economy'.
I wonder how Bill English and John Key will spin the news that Kiwis are leaving in droves?
'Making room for an expanding economy' perhaps?

Well Robert, quite frankly I have no respect for people with the "abandon ship" mentality.
I would suggest that people that let money be the sole driver in life are often the worst at 'community'.
We don't need them.
Actually it is because we have a depressing loser streak - we are so inured to our political leadership showing no leadership and to be sold down the road by them - that everyone is just living their own little lives and hoping it will all go away - while australia isn't necessarily better - it doesn't have the abject Aussies are proud of australia - we seem to be stuck with apologising for NZ.
So many blogs are happy to point out our endless failings but no one seems to be energised to actually do something positive. We are as big a basket case as greece and we are heading for the same economic fate and all anyone can do is whinge yet we have done this to ourselves.
We need to stop tolerating the crap that comes out of our parliament whether it be red blue or green. There are no courageous or visionary leaders just vote buyers.

Agree with you in general darkhorse, especially your comments about the present government, however I fear you know too little about the Greens, judging by the way you included them in you list of faint-hearted polies.

Actually - I figures it last night after pondering why we are so accepting of the crap we get dealt from our leadership and realised it is the quiet apathy of the defeated.
While maybe somewhat harsh of the greens in my all inclusive condemnation at least it gave anon a chance to exercise his succinct wit -but was he being facetious?
No one has a plan let alone a good plan. It is time for our leaders to be doing bold things - everyone agrees we have a problem and mostly we agree on the problem even if from different perspectives. Why not come out ands say roger douglas screwed the place completely and we are going to unravel the worst of his legacy by doing ..... ( along list of opportunity here!!)
Darkhorse - your own newly-minted blog looks to be a great place to find elements of that 'list' and I'm reading it whenever I get the chance. Anonymous would love it - he's a student of subtle thought, as you note.
