Pete Jackson's a roarer!
Pete sent this image through, saying,
Attached is a photo snapped on Sunday night 1st May with a Canon EOS 400D over 70 to 80 seconds looking at a slight aurora to the south and also at the Milky Way above. It seems like years since we last spotted an Aurora - so hopefully this will be the first of many.....
Thanks Pete!

Do you know where that was taken (approximately)?
Pete lives in Te Anau.
Love this photo Beautiful!
gecko - you'll have to come down south to see the Aurora Australis. Pete's photo is beautiful alright.
Antarctic - you're well named for someone who appreciates aurora!
Yes, I had macaroni cheese for tea!
Fonterra thankds you for your generous support Shunda.
When I lived in Otatara as a child, I remember seeing aurorae quite a few times - and we only lived there for about 18 months. Any theories for why they are becoming less common, if indeed they are?
I guess it's linked to sun-spot activity Tim nd perhaps we've just passed through a period of quiet. Guessing here.
